Email notifications can be set up for any part of the forum you wish. You may do this for an entire subject forum board or an individual thread (topic/conversation). To enable this, log on to the forum and click on and category or subcategory you’d like notifications on. (Example: You can set it for the entire Kolbrin/Kailedy board or just individual conversations within that board.) Once in your desired location, you will see near the top right side of the page, a tab labeled ‘notify’. Click on the ‘notify’ tab and you will receive email notifications for that particular subject or topic based on your notification settings found in your account profile.
To set up email notifications in the manner you’d like to receive them click on the ‘Profile’ tab near the upper left side of the forums page, right under ‘The Culdian Trust’ banner. Once you’ve clicked ‘Profile’, hover your cursor over the ‘Modify Profile’ tab, and then click on the ‘Notifications’ option in that menu. Once here, you can change how and when you will receive email notifications for the boards and topics you are following. Just make sure to follow the instructions in the previous paragraph first, and you will see on your ‘Notifications’ page within your profile that you have indeed added whatever topics you choose to follow.
Members shoud click the Profile tab, then click ‘Notifications and Email’ on the left side and can set the options there. You can experiment with the options but the best settings we found were the following:
Uncheck “Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply.â€
Then check the box next to: “When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don’t reply to these emails.)â€
And next to where it says “For topics and boards I’ve requested notification on, notify me of,†— select: “Replies and Moderationâ€
Then each Member should click on each board and click the “Notify†tab next for each board they want to subscribe to email notifications.
SMF provides notification options that may prove useful to many members. In addition to the options available below, a member may choose to be notified instantly, daily, or weekly about replies, moderation actions, or both in topics for which they have requested notifications.
*Receive forum newsletters, announcements and important notifications by email. - Newsletters, announcements, and other notifications will be delivered to the member’s email. Even if this option is disabled, forum administrators are able to override it in some instances.
*Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic. - When a member posts a new topic or replies to an existing topic, notification for that topic will be turned on automatically when this option is enabled.
*When sending notification of a reply to a topic, send the post in the email (but please don’t reply to these emails.) - Email notifications will include the contents of the posts. These emails should not be responded to.
In this page is also possible to define the frequency of notifications and the actions that will be notified. A member may also see lists of the topics and boards for which they have requested notification. If desired, they may turn notification off for some or all of them.
