The Limits and Potential of Mankind

I am only learning about our “potential” as far as latent godly nature goes Len. But surely, that “image of G-d”, or “latent” residue or spark of the Supreme Spirit, maybe His fingerprint upon us, is of a limited potentiality ? Meaning that we are restricted in what that potentiality can achieve, due to our lack of knowledge, insight and wisdom, experience and general aptitude towards the running of a universe and the oversight of billions of beings, and their respective soul paths. Let alone ability to exercise and direct huge amounts of energetic power ?
It would seem to me that there is a certain amount of inspired delusion in the minds of those that seek “godhood”, or believe they can attain such an indefinable state of being.
I say indefinable, because as far as I know, man has not yet been able to bring the Supreme Spirit down to definitive terms, that are not more than archaic descriptions of an understanding that we barely hold onto by our intellectual fingernails.

At least you are taking the time to realise you are learning of such things; most people don't even get that far. My friend, at the beginning we all merely begin to make scratches upon the tip of the tip of the iceberg, and that is all. As you delve further into this line of work you begin to get a clearer picture and understanding as to how limited we have allowed ourselves to become in our understanding of who and what we are and, just as importantly, what our potential may possibly be that lies latent and slumbering within.
But surely, that "image of G-d", or "latent" residue or spark of the Supreme Spirit, maybe His fingerprint upon us, is of a limited potentiality ?
I think the best way to answer this one is for you to begin the process of learning how to see the 'spark' of that which some call the Supreme Spirit. Only then will you truly see and begin to understand the level of understanding from whence this question has come. There is one surefire thing, and that is how limited we are in understanding just what our potential is or could be. We are limited by a finite existence, a finite universe (the infinite is a little too much for most to ponder), and a life of knowledge and understanding that is bound within the confines of our planet.
Meaning that we are restricted in what that potentiality can achieve, due to our lack of knowledge, insight and wisdom, experience and general aptitude towards the running of a universe and the oversight of billions of beings, and their respective soul paths.
We are looking again at finite qualities within ourselves, when we should be looking at ways to expand our perception of finite existence and capabilities. Potentially, anything can be achieved, whether or not the knowledge, insight, wisdom, experience, etc., is there or not. For example, I'm pretty certain the person who first came up with the idea of moving an object using a cylindrical device had no idea that his/her idea would eventually enable us to explore beyond the confines of Earth and, for that matter, our solar system. The wheel, in all its various sizes, has had a huge impact upon our civilisation - I doubt very much whether any insight, knowledge, wisdom, experience, a limited imagination, or a finite concept of reality even entered into the picture. It happened, and evolved.

I believe history is full of people who have not let perceived barriers and concepts of limitations deter them from moving forward in the acquisition of knowledge and its application.

As for the Supreme Spirit running the universe and overseeing billions, well, to me, this would take away free will and and would interfere with the Logan. To be honest, I really don’t know, but I would presume that we are the ones in control of how we evolve; not so much the Supreme Spirit.

Let alone ability to exercise and direct huge amounts of energetic power ?
Personally I believe the power is simply there. Apart from the original outpouring (if that's how things began) it would be more prudent to allow that energy (or those energies) to evolve in their own fashion, allowing anyone or anything capable of utilising such energy or energies as they are capable. To do otherwise would limit potential experiences.
It would seem to me that there is a certain amount of inspired delusion in the minds of those that seek "godhood", or believe they can attain such an indefinable state of being.
This would be true if we were perceiving 'godhood' in human terms, especially as this relates to our current level of development. We don't even know what God is, let alone try to understand a nebulous concept such as 'godhood'. And because we tend to be constantly seeking something more or beyond what we currently have or are, then to me the emphasis should be on the seeking and not so much upon the limiting concepts or preconceived ideas we may possess.
I say indefinable, because as far as I know, man has not yet been able to bring the Supreme Spirit down to definitive terms, that are not more than archaic descriptions of an understanding that we barely hold onto by our intellectual fingernails.
This is true. Would it not therefore be beneficial if we dispensed with intellect altogether then; or to perhaps redefine what intellect should be?

As for bringing the Supreme Spirit down to definitive terms, well, this has always happened. We have used nature and pantheons to define God (and gods); we have used precepts to define God; we also use meaningless words to define God; we constantly use actions and inactions to define God; even the Culdians define God by referencing the ‘Supreme Spirit’.

We need to be able to understand things and we tend to do this by definition. Fortunately, often times men and women come along who expand our definitions of things, so our understanding grows.

Excellent post, Lance! I shall just attempt to add a few items of a parallel nature…

Where does our potential end? Are there areas in which you, me, any human can improve upon? Who among us has achieved 100% of his or her potential?

If you answer “none of us have” (to the last question), like I would, you would have to conclude that there is no limit you could set, because you haven’t reached it. If the Earth (or the Power behind, within, and sustaining Her) could speak to herself and said, “the most I could possibly achieve in sustaining life is simple one celled organisms”, would a seething cornucopia of life have been possible here, let alone self aware humans? If I said to you two hundred years ago that it was possible to fly to the moon, would you have said it was impossible, or that we were limited in our potential in this regard? And what is the percentage of your brain you don’t use, or are unaware of? What is the potential of your intellectual and spiritual awareness and power, or can you not say?

The only thing that remains constant in this dimension is change… and the nature of that change over the course of aeons is undefinable for mainstream awareness. Therefore, isn’t it more logical to conclude that those who believe that humans cannot evolve into indefinable states of being are the ones that are truly delusional? Do you think humans have no self directed power to shape and mould themselves? Do you think we live in a static, unchanging universe? Do you think the power within this universe and its microcosm within each of us is limited by only what you can imagine at this moment?

Just the human body and brain is a miracle of creation! In nature, as with man’s creation, there is wonder and brilliance and magic everywhere you look (and that is only what the eyes can perceive!), and then people say this or that is limited in potential!!!???

Who is delusional here, men who have made and done things no one has ever imagined before, or those who say it can’t be done?

“In the beginning I established the Law, without which the souls of men could not develop and progress. As each soul is itself a divine fragment, with all the powers of divinity latent within itself, it can modify all but the Great Law. Man thinks but his thoughts alone do not create, for, as yet, he lacks knowledge of the power which creates in substance.” Book of Gleanings.

If I may add, the Godhood you speak about Sha’ul does exist according to the Kolbrin, but I don’t think that can be wholly manifested in the physical realm, as this realm is under certain laws which can’t be transgressed or else the Great Design would be rendered useless. If you will become a researcher of the metaphysical you always bear in mind that life doesn’t end with the mortal existence, so the path continues upwards if you choose to walk in that direction and Godhood is something that in any case the Soul-spirit may attain one day in a realm much different than the one we currently inhabit. Still I guess even our power to affect our material environment is not currently at its maximum level judging by the feats that can be read about our ancestors in times long gone.

Brothers,
Lance, Len and Manu,
Thank you for your replies. You all make very good arguments for your points, and to put it in a nut shell, you are all of course correct.
There really are no limitations are there ? Not ones that would break divine law anyway.
An upward path of progression is what I have to capture in my minds eye, and focus on the goal of being a Real Man.
Of course, our existence goes on beyond this, into dimensions and realms we know not.
We are, as the Kolbrin certainly shows, masters of our own destiny, shapers of our own tomorrow. We carve that image of ourselves, each stroke of the chisel for beauty, or the beast.
Really, I know more of G-d than this, I have been asleep a long time.
Thank you brothers, for helping to wake my sleeping soul.
The lights are now on !

If one does not become become a master of their own fate, they become the playthings and pawns of chance and the darker overseers of unawakened humanity. Ether mould your Soul to your Heart’s desire, or it will be disfigured by the tempest, and smashed by the wicked. And even when consciously choosing yourself, choose wisely, lest you revert to a conscious darkness. A Beast ignorant of himself is natural and part of the order of progression. A Beast conscious of what he his, and how he came to be, is a special kind of hell.

And Sha’ul, please continue to voice doubts when you have them. Always question, always cross examine. And while people here can give logical, and sometimes enlightened answers to questions; that can only guide, it is not the ultimate solution for yourself. For that, one must experience these truths within, and further test with all the tools available. Continue your studies and contemplations, for this is your preparation for these revelations. Have patience, they will come after your preparations are secure and well founded.

For that, one must experience these truths within, and further test with all the tools available.
Absolutely Len. Sadly, this is something many people find difficult to grasp when asking questions about things beyond the realm of the purely physical; for them, the easy way is simplest.
And while people here can give logical, and sometimes enlightened answers to questions; that can only guide, it is not the ultimate solution for yourself.
Very true. I would consider ourselves as being beacons, guiding from our own experiences and at whatever levels, those who are seeking to follow. How you ultimately do this, though, is an entirely personal thing and unique to yourself.

I like what Gwineva has to say about it. It seems a natural progression that if followed, positive benefits would be reaped.

The Logan (The Law)

  1. The purpose of Earth is:
    the production of man,
    the conditioning of man,
    the elevating of man.

  2. The evolutionary process
    Is promoted by:
    aspiration,
    desire,
    yearning
    Takes place through co-operation,
    both conscious
    and unconscious
with a hierarchy of intelligences beyond this sphere.

  3. The lives of individuals entail a pilgrimage along the Soulpath,
this being a continual process of development from a state of imperfection and crudity to an ever evolving and unfolding, inconceivably greater state of:
    spiritual perfection,
    mental perfection
    physical perfection.

  4. The worldly sphere as perceived by the physical senses is strictly limited, forming only a minor portion of the whole.

  5. Consciousness is not something generated by the mortal body, but something which uses it as a vehicle of experience and expression.

  6. Interpenetrating and surrounding the physical body is another body, composed of some other form of physical substance and within the whole is an immortal Soul.

  7. The whole basis of the material universe is a form of energy. All elements, all living beings and creatures are carriers, transformers and conductors of this energy.

  8. There exists a Great Law, and uderlying principle of justice and goodness which is reflected in the physical, but not manifestly expressed therein. The natural expressions of the Great Law are:
    Stability,
    predictable changeability
    and cause and effect.

These immutable laws govern the whole cosmos, the universes visable and invisable.

EARTH LIFE = THE BOW - which shoots over a high wall obscuring what lies beyond.
THE SPIRIT OF MAN = THE ARROW
HEAVEN = WHERE IT FALLS
